Lawn Fawn's How you Bean shaker card

Bean meaning to say . . . Happy Birthday card

This weeks task was to make my sister in laws birthday card. I hunted through my stamp sets and stumbled across Lawn Fawn's 'How you Bean?' stamp and die sets which I haven't used yet. My sister in law likes jelly beans so this was a perfect find.

So here is this weeks card. It didn't take too long to make, although it looks a little complicated.

How cute are those little beans with faces?

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made.

You will need:
  • White square card (5"x5")
  • Lawn Fawn 'How you Bean? stamp set
  • Lawn Fawn 'How you Bean? die set
  • Lawn Fawn 'How you Bean? shaker add on
  • White card
  • Small amounts of red, blue, green and yellow card for the jelly bean confetti (you can use other colours if you prefer)
  • Small white doily or a fancy edged round die that you can use to cut a doily shape
  • Background paper - I used bg_stripe_maryfran from 'Away we go' FQB digital download from Nitwits (https://www.nitwitcollections.com/shop/)
  • Promarkers - cool grey 4, ruby, sky blue, dusky rose, mustard, pear green and amethyst (you can use any other colouring medium you prefer)
  • Black ink pad
  • Red ink pad
  • Acetate
  • Foam pads
  • glue

  1. Using the black ink pad, stamp onto white card, one jar and then stamp the beans inside, another jar with nothing in and a lid.

  2. Colour the lid, the jelly beans and jar that they are in. For the other jar, you only need to colour around the outside as the centre part will be cut out.
Stamp 'how you bean?' jars and colour using promarkers

  3. Cut the coloured pictures out using the matching dies. You will need the lid die from the die set and you need the two jars from the shaker set add on. (See the photo below which shows the different jar dies in the set.  The 'front of jar' die has the extra bit on it which cuts out the centre.)  Use the 'back of jar' to cut out the jar with beans in it and use the 'front of jar' die to cut out the one which you only part coloured.

  4. Use the 'back of jar' die to cut out a jar from the acetate.

  5. Run a thin line of glue around the back of the jar cut out (the one with the hole in) and stick the acetate to the back.

    Add acetate to jar front

  6. While the glue is drying, cut out 4 beans from the four colours of card (red, yellow, green and blue - or the card colours of your choice).

  7. Use the black ink pad and the small faces within the stamp set and stamp little faces onto the beans you've just cut out. (I stamped both sides to ensure if it fell over, it still had a face showing!). They are just so cute!

  8. Put foam pads onto the back of the jar that has the acetate on. Make sure they connect to each other so the shaker beans cannot escape.
add foam pads to create the walls of the shaker jar

  9. Put the beans with faces centrally on top of the jar with the beans stamped on it.  Stick the jar with the acetate on top as per the below photo.

  10. Using foam pads, stick the lid onto the front of the jar.

stamp 'bean meaning to say' and 'happy birthday' greetings to card base

  12. Stamp a little red heart at the end of the happy birthday

  13. Cut the background paper down to 4"x4" then stick it centrally to the front of the square card base

  14. Cut the doily in half and stick it in the lower half of the background paper.

  15. Using foam pads, stick the jar on the card front so it looks like it's sitting on the doily
