Christmas Pudding Gift Box

Cute Christmas pudding gift box - or maybe even a reindeer!

I really like making and giving little boxes. The die I used to make this little gift box is from Stampin' up! - 'Mini Curvy keepsake box'. You can cut it from a single sheet of 6"x6" paper and it doesn't need any gluing to put it together. It looks really cute from any Christmas paper but I wanted to make something a little more from it.

And hence my Christmas pudding (read to the bottom of the instructions to find a reindeer as well :) - my youngest son wanted a reindeer, so you can thank him for the extra box )

This isn't too difficult to put together and you should be able to make quite a few in an evening. I will probably make a few of these and fill with chocolate for my work colleagues to help them get through to the Christmas holidays. I've also thought they might make good table name places for the Christmas table - a little chocolate inside and my guests name on a card slotted in between the handles on the top of the box.

The finished box, excluding the handles is about 5cm wide by 5cm depth and about 4cm high.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need:
  • Stampin' Up! Mini curvy keepsake box die
  • brown card (6"x6" per box)
  • white card (6"x6" per box)
  • black ink pad
  • dots stamp from the Stampin' Up! Waterfront stamp set
  • Red glitter card (small amount per box)
  • Green card (small amount per box)
  • Glue dots
  • 1/2" hole punch
  • Lawn Fawn's 'Stitched Hillside' die
  • Glue

To make the reindeer box you will also need:
  • Light brown card (6"x6" per box)
  • Dark brown card (small amount per box)
  • 2mm hole punch
  • Googly eyes (2 per box)
  • Large embossing tool and embossing pad
  • double sided sticky foam pads

To make the Christmas pudding box:
  1. Cut the box die in brown card and white card
only two 6"x6" bits of card needed

  2. Using the black ink pad and the dots stamp, stamp lots of black dots all over the brown card. (You can use any spotty stamp you have.  If you don't have a stamp then just use a black felt pen and draw dots all over)
stamp black dots all over brown pudding base

  3. Use one of the stitched hillside dies to create curvy cuts on the white box card as per the photo below. If you do not have the hillside dies, you can do the curvy cuts by hand - they do not need to be precise.
Cut the ends off the white to use as icing

  4. Glue the white tops onto the brown box shape as per below photo.
Glue the white icing to the pudding base

  5. Use the 1/2" hole punch to cut two red glitter circles for berries

  6. Use the branch dies from the Mini curvy keepsake box die set to cut out two branches in green card

  7. Take the brown box and fold the two handles together. Then fold one of the sides, with the slit in, over the two handles. Slide the other side up and over the two handles. The box has now been constructed.

  8. Using a glue dot, stick one green branch covered by a glittery red circle to one side of the handle. Do the same to the other side. See the below photo for positioning.

  9. Ta da! Beautiful Christmas pudding box. (To fill it with your treats, just slip one of the sides back over the handles, fill and then replace)

To make the reindeer box:
  1. Cut the box die in light brown card

  2. Use the branch dies from the Mini curvy keepsake box die set to cut out two branches in dark brown card

  3. Use the 1/2" hole punch to cut one red glitter circle for the reindeer's nose.

  4. Use the 2mm hole punch to cut a hole 5mm away from the end of the slot on both sides of the box (see the below photo)
    Punch holes for antlers

  5. Bend the stem of the branches and slot into the holes just punched. Glue inside the box.
Glue antler in placeAdd antlers to the reindeer gift box

  6. Fold the box together as per the Christmas pudding box - point 7

  7. Use the large embossing tool and embossing pad and gently bend the nose into a dome shape.  (You can just use your finger and the palm of your hand to get a similar effect if you do not have these tools)

  8. Using a double sided sticky foam pad, stick the red nose to the front of the box.

  9. Glue the googly eyes just above the nose.

Another really cool box!
Could be used as a name place holder
I think they would make good name holders for the Christmas dinner table.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed these boxes - I'm off to make several more, just hope I have enough card :)
