Christmas tags - homemade

Make your gifts extra special by creating your own handmade tags

This is an extra midweek post - Christmas is nearly here and I'm getting very excited. I don't know about you guys, but I am always left with rolls of wrapping paper but no matching tags. Rather than hunt the shops for matching tags or 'some that will do', why not make your own. Make your gifts look fabulous and make the recipient feel extra special.
Handmade tags using Stampin Up Dashing Deer stamp set

This is a super quick project and can use up those smaller bits of card and images that you collect.

I found some reindeer wrap with no matching tags so used some kraft card (that I've had for ages!) and Stampin' Up's Dashing Deer stamp set to make some tags.

Follow the below link to find out how these particular tags are made

You will need
  • Kraft card
  • Die to cut out tag shapes (I used a bunting flag die. The deer stamp I wanted to use was quite large so needed a large tag ! )
  • Largest deer stamp from Dashing Deer stamp set by Stampin' Up
  • 'Happy Christmas' stamp from Snow Place stamp set by Stampin' Up
  • Red Ink pad (I used Stampin' Up rose red ink pad)
  • Red and white bakers twine
  • A small hole punch (You could probably use a large needle instead)
  • Small red sticky back gems

  1. Cut your tag shape from the kraft card
    Bunting flag die cut

  2. Using the red ink pad, stamp the reindeer image on the front of the tag and the 'Happy Christmas' on the back of the tag

  3. Punch two small holes, evenly spaced, along the top of the tag and thread 25cm of red and white bakers twine from the back to the front and then through the second hole to the back. Tie the twine together at the ends.

  4. Stick a small red gem on the reindeer's nose

I've added the tag to the gift along with a candy cane just to finish it off. What do you think? It's a simple tag and you could make a batch of them quite quickly but they do look effective and special.

What about making a Christmas gift bag (click here to see my post for how to do this) and attach your beautiful tag to the bag?  That would look really special.
