Birthday cake reveal wheel card

Using the reveal wheel die from Lawn Fawn to create a Birthday cake card

When I buy crafting items such as stamp sets or die cutters, I like to find as many different ways of using them as possible - crafting gadgets are not cheap! So here I am using Lawn Fawn's reveal wheel stamp and die set again to show you another way to make a fabulous card.

I was tempted to make the white card front a little more patterned as I felt it looked a little bare. However I think it gives more impact that way.

Anyway, I hope you like this card. Please follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • C6 card blank
  • White card
  • Glitter card (I used a blue/green glitter card from stampin' Up! Glimmer papers assortment pack)
  • Reveal Wheel die by Lawn Fawn
  • Reveal Wheel Sentiments stamp set by Lawn Fawn
  • Piece of Cake stamp set by Stampin' Up!
  • Cake punch by Stampin' Up!
  • Circular nesting dies - roughly 5cm and 7cm (I got mine from The Works)
  • Ink Pads - Black and blue (I used a black ink pad from Hobbycraft and Island Indigo ink pad from Stampin' Up!)
  • Stamping aid (I used the Stamparatus by Stampin' Up!)
  • tiny brad
  • Blue, yellow and brown colouring mediums of your choice (I used promarkers - mustard and sandstone and also IB3 from Spectrum Noir pen set)
  • Double sided tape, glue and double sided foam pads

  1. Using the reveal wheel die, add the arch shaped window to it and cut out one panel from white card. Remove the arch shaped window and cut a second panel from white card.

  2. Using 'Turn me' stamp from the sentiments set, stamp it using blue ink onto the white piece as shown in the below photo

  3. Cut out large and small reveal wheel circle parts from white card

  4. Using stamps of your choosing from the sentiments set, stamp 3 sentiments with blue ink around the large reveal wheel using a stamping aid to help you line them up. Use a lawn fawn template if you have one or create your own template as I did in point 4 of  cats reveal wheel birthday card - click here to be taken to that page. (Tip - when I made my template for this arch shaped window, I measured down the 3 lines from the crease line by 4mm and drew my arch shaped windows so the top laid on this 4mm mark.)

Put your template ontop so you can align the stamps

  5. Using a tiny brad put it through the small reveal wheel then through the back of the large reveal wheel. Bend the legs of the brad outwards so it shows on the front of the reveal wheel where your stamped sentiments.

  6. Put double sided foam pads on the back of the small reveal wheel and place it on the white panel (without the arch shaped window) cut out in step one. Don't press it down until you are sure it's in the correct place. Just lay it gently and place the white panel (with arch shaped window), cut out in step one, on top to ensure the sentiments show through the window. Keep moving the reveal wheel about until it is in correct position.

  7. lay reveal wheel on windowless panel

  8. Put foam pads on the white panel (without window) so they are all over, close to the wheel but not obstructing it. Stick the other panel (with arch shaped window) ontop.

  9. Using the 5cm nesting circular die, cut one from white card.

  10. Using black ink, stamp the candles from the Piece of Cake stamp set centrally but near the top of the circle just die cut out. Colour in using your choice of colouring medium

  11. Stamp the cake of your choice from the Piece of Cake stamp set using black ink onto white card. Colour in and cut out using the cake punch

  12. Using the 7cm circle nesting die cut out one from glittery card

  13. Glue the glittery blue circle just die cut out to the front of the white panel

  14. Glue the white smaller circle with candles stamped on, ontop of the blue glittery circle

  15. Using foam pads on the back of the cake, attach it just below where you stamped the candles, so it looks like they are ontop of the cake.

  16. Cut out a rectangle from the blue glittery card 10 . 5 cm by 15 cm and mount it onto the front of the C6 card blank.

  17. Attach the panel ontop of the blue glittery C6 card front.

There are quite a few options with this card as there are so many different styles of cakes to choose and along with the choice of sentiments, you could easily convert this card to a wedding card or well done card. If you have some number stamps, you could also add the recipients age to the reveal wheel.

I hope you have fun with this
