Little Ladybug Valentine Card

How to create a lovely 3d card with Stampin Up's Little Ladybug stamp set

I absolutely love this stamp set from Stampin Up. I thought I'd be able to use the little ladybirds to make a frame and then when I saw the flying Ladybird it was crying out to make it pop out of the card with some sort of spring.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • Red card
  • White card
  • Little Ladybug stamp set by Stampin Up
  • Black ink pad
  • 2 Square nesting dies (one about 9 cm square and the other about 5 . 5 cm square)
  • Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarkers - black, ruby red, dusky pink and pale pink)
  • 4 red heart buttons
  • Stamping aid (I used the Stamparatus by Stampin Up)

  1. Using the larger square die, cut one out of white card

  2. With the square piece of card on your stamping aid, lay the 4 little ladybird stamp, facing down, so it lies near the top of the white square but centrally spaced across the width as per the below photo
    Use Stampin up Stamparatus

  3. Move the plastic cover of the stamping aid over to pick up the stamp.
Use stamparatus to make a square border

  4. Ink the stamp with the black ink and stamp it onto the white card.

  5. Turn the white card around 90 degrees counter clockwise, re ink the stamp and stamp again onto the white card.
Turn the card 90 degrees to re-stamp the same image

  6. Turn and stamp the little ladybirds another two times so that the ladybirds are on all four sides.

  7. Using black ink, stamp the flying ladybird on white card, then cut it out with a white border all around. Colour all of the ladybirds in.

  8. Cut the red card to form a base card - 25 cm x 12 . 5 cm. Fold it in half to create a square card

  9. Glue the white square piece of card centrally onto the front of the red base card.

  10. Using the smaller square nesting die cut out the centre of the front of the card as shown in the below photo.

  11. Cut 2 strips of white card - 9 cm x 1 cm.

  12. Stick them together at right angles at the very end
Create a card spring - stick the ends of two strips together

  13. Fold the left piece over the right piece

  14. Fold the right piece over the left piece

  15. Keep folding one over the other until you have no card left. Put a tiny piece of glue on the end and stick it together. This is your spring.
