Lawn Fawn Cactus birthday card

Use a really cute cactus stamp by Lawn Fawn and patterned paper from your stock to make this fab birthday card

I often struggle to make cards as the background always look a little bare. This card is created using smallish bits of patterned and plain card to create the background - use up scraps you have and also display the patterns you love - this is win win !
Lawn Fawn Year Ten stamp and die set to make this birthday card

Lawn Fawn make such cute stamps and this cactus is no exception. With just one small stamp, I've made 3 different looking cacti. I'm sure you could make more with different colours and positions of eyes and flowers :)

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • A4 white card
  • Dark green card
  • Two complimentary but different patterned paper or card (I used card from a scrapbooking pad called Unique Stories by Craft Sensations that I purchased from The Range)
  • Year ten stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn
  • Black ink pad
  • Colouring medium of your choice. (I used promarkers - dusky rose, pale pink, forest green, pear green, lime green and oatmeal)
  • Greeting stamp (I used a circular stamp that I had in my stash but you can use any)
  • Punch or die to cut out your greeting (I used Stampin Ups 1 1/8 inch scallop circle punch)
  • Foam pads and glue or double sided tape

  1. Fold a piece of A4 white card in half to form your base card

  2. From the dark green card, cut out two rectangles 13 cm by 7 cm

  3. Cut out two more rectangles 13 cm by 7cm from your patterned paper

  4. Cut a rectangle from white card measuring 12 cm by 6 cm

  5. Using black ink, stamp 3 cacti and 7 flowers onto a piece of white card. Also stamp your greeting.

  6. Colour in the cacti and flowers

  7. Using black ink, Stamp happy faces onto your cacti. I stamped one with a wink, one with a normal smiley face and the last one with a smiley face slightly on the wonk
stamp 3 lawn fawn cactus and their flowers. Colour in and stamp with smiley face

  8. Die cut out the cacti, flowers and your greeting

  9. Using glue or double sided tape stick the patterned papers and one of the dark green rectangles to the front of your card as per the below photo.
Add the 3 rectangles of coloured and patterned paper to front of card

  10. Glue the white card rectangle cut out in step 4 to the remaining dark green rectangle.

  11. Using double sided foam pads stick your cacti to onto the white rectangle so they line up. Stick the flowers on as per the below photo - I used double sided foam pads again
3 cactus with cute faces and flowers added to 2 of them

  12. Using double sided foam pads stick the cacti panel to the front of your card towards the bottom left of the card

  13. Using double sided foam pads stick your greeting to the top right of your card. As my greeting is circular, I stuck one of the flowers into the centre of the greeting

  14. Stick the remaining 3 flowers the the bottom right of the card with foam pads
finished card. 3 patterned papers at back with cacti panel bottom left and greeting top right

How cute is that card? I think it could be for anyone and the greeting could be changed to other occasions. It's a great way to use up some of your scraps of patterned paper. I bet it would look really sweet if you had just one cactus and smaller bits of patterned paper behind to make a small square card.

Anyway - have fun crafting. X
