A way of using your small scraps of ribbons to create a lovely background for any stamped image
Being in lock-down provides lots of opportunities to do those tasks you keep putting off - my task this week was to tidy my sewing threads and ribbon boxes. They do get awfully tangled ! It was then I realised how many small bits of ribbon I had and as I do not like to throw anything out. I had to think of a way to use them, hence the card this week.
Using nesting square dies to create the base to stick your ribbons to makes a really stable background. It doesn't have to be square dies, you could use any nesting dies and even turn the item into a really cute tag - this would use up your really tiny bits of ribbon.
There are some lovely ribbons out there - different widths, textures and some even have pictures or patterns on them. Mix and match to get a lovely background.
I haven't quite got around to finishing sorting out my ribbon stash - sort of got distracted with this card !

You will need:
What do you think? The ribbons don't have to go across horizontally, you could stick them down vertically, diagonally or haphazardly! If you don't have any ribbons, you could use strips of paper instead or even a mixture of both. The double sided tape seems to be holding the ribbon in place but if you find yours does not, then you could run a line of stitching down the square to hold the ribbons in place - the top frame will hide your stitching.

You will need:
- Dark green A4 card
- White A4 card
- 2 Sizes of nesting square dies (I used 10 . 5 cm and 8 cm)
- Lawn Fawn Year Ten Cactus stamp and Die sets
- Greeting stamp (I used Happy birthday from Stampin Ups Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set)
- Black and dark green ink pads (I used a black ink pad from HobbyCraft and Mossy Meadow by Stampin Up)
- Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarkers - pear green, soft peach and cocktail pink)
- Lengths of green ribbon - varying patterns, widths and textures - minimum 11 cm in length
- Strong double sided tape and double sided foam pads
- Cut the green card to 25 cm by 12 . 5 cm and fold in half to create a square base card
- Using the larger square die cut 3 squares from white card. Put two of the squares together and cut the small square die from the centre (by placing them together and cutting as one, it will create two frames exactly the same)
- Lay your ribbons across the white square until you are happy with their look. Put strong double sided tape down the left and right hand side of this square and stick your ribbons in place.
- Trim any ribbons that extend the square
- Put double sided tape around the back of one of the white frames and stick ontop of the ribbon covered square
- Stick the square onto the front of your green card base
- Using green ink, stamp your greeting onto the other white frame - central at the bottom (I forgot to do it at this stage and ended up having to stamp it once I had stuck it onto the card - I was lucky it stamped ok !)
- Attach the frame with the greeting ontop of the other frame with double sided foam pads
- Stamp a cactus and flower onto white card. Colour the image in, then stamp a face onto the cactus. Die cut the cactus and flower out
- Using foam pads attach the cactus and flower onto the centre of your card ontop of the ribbons
