Use Stampin Up's 'All Dressed Up' dies to create a more masculine giftbag
This is quite a small giftbag - perfect for a giftcard or a few favourite sweets. I bought this die after seeing beautiful girly bags that other people had made but I wanted to do something a little different. So I tried to see if there was a way of giving this girly bag a more masculine look to make the die more versatile. So here is my rucksack with a little pocket for a message card.
The finished giftbag is about 9 cm tall, 8 . 5 cm wide at the base tapering to 5 . 5 cm at the top with a depth of 2 . 5 cm. It would be a fab little bag for a gift card, little notes or a few of their favourite sweets. You could make them as favour bags or for any occaision. I made another one for a going back to school bag - scroll down to the bottom to see this one.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Patterned card for the main part of the rucksack (I downloaded 'FQB - Little Men Collection' which is a digital scrapbooking paper pack from Nitwits and printed the beige stripe onto white card (you can find it here))
- Patterned card for the pocket, strap and flap (I used dark brown stripe paper from the FQB - Little Men Collection printed onto white card)
- All Dressed Up Die set from Stampin Up
- Small amount of white card
- Rectangle die 6 . 5 cm by 3 cm (Or you could just cut a rectangle with scissors)
- Strong double sided tape
- Small amount of hook and loop tape
- Small greeting stamp
- Brown Ink (I used Stampin Up ink pad - chocolate chip)
- Die cutting machine
- Die cut two bag bases from the beige stripe card
- Die cut two straps, a pocket and a flap out of dark brown stripe card
- Put thin double sided tape around the sides and bottom of the pocket and stick to the front of the bag towards the bottom. (Don't put tape on the side that has the semi-circle in it as this will be the top of the pocket and will remain open so a small note can be slipped in
- Lightly fold all the crease lines on the main part of the bag
- Put a little bit of double sided tape or glue down the side tabs and stick the bag edges together to form the 3d bag (as per the below photo's)
- Fold under the base and glue in place
- Put a small amount of double sided tape to the square base of the flap and stick it on the back of the bag just below the notch so that it protrudes above the bag
- With your fingers, bend the flap so it curves over to the front of the bag. Cut a small amount of hook and loop tape and stick it to the latch end of the flap
- Stick the other bit of hook and loop tape to the front of the bag, roughly 2 cm down, so the flap can attach to it (See the below photo for placement)
- Pull the straps between your fingers to put a slight curve into them.
- Stick one end of the strap to the back of the bag at the top but so it looks like the strap is upside down and sticking out of the top of the bag (see below photo - for the right hand strap. I've already completed the left hand strap) (Sorry about the photo - My laptop had a bit of a moment but you'll get the general gist !)
- Bend the strap over and down and stick it to the bottom right of the bag. This creates the completed strap and once both of them have been done it will look like the below photo
- Die cut a piece of white card with the rectangle die (Or cut by hand) and fold in half to form a very small square card
- Stamp your greeting on the front of the card
- You can write a small message on the inside of the card and then slip the card into the pocket on the front of the rucksack
I also did this version - Going back to school rucksack. I made it in exactly the same way but this time I printed papers from Nitwits 'Live N Learn' collection (Which you can find here). I printed and cut a little apple from the Nitwits download which I used as the notelet for the pocket on the front of the bag.
