Use acetate to create a 3D looking butterfly and floral birthday card
By taking a bit out of the front of the base card and replacing with acetate, it creates a window that makes the butterflies look like they are flying.
I've made this into a birthday card but as the image is quite universal you could change the greeting for almost anything - thinking of you, congratulations or even get well soon.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- A4 light pink card
- A piece of floral patterned paper (I used a piece from Stampin Up's Best Dressed designer series paper)
- Dark pink ink pad (I used Stampin Up's rose red ink pad)
- Butterfly Gala stamp set and corresponding punch by Stampin Up
- Acetate
- Happy Birthday greeting (I used one from Piece of Cake stamp set by Stampin Up)
- Double sided tape and glue
- Guillotine
- Cut the pink card to 21 cm x 15 cm and fold in half to create the base card
- Cut the front of the base card 2 cm from the short edge and 2 cm from the fold. This leaves a base card with a gap in the front. (Keep the piece you cut out for stamping butterflies onto in point 7).
- Cut a piece of acetate 15 cm x 10 . 5 cm. Using glue or double sided tape, stick the acetate behind the 2 cm upto the centre fold.
- Using glue or double sided tape stick the 2 cm strip to the bottom of the acetate
- Cut the floral patterned paper to 15 cm by 10 . 5 cm and glue to the inside back of the card base
- Stamp your greeting using the dark pink ink to the bottom right of the base card (on the 2 cm pink strip)
- Stamp a large and small butterfly, from the Butterfly Gala stamp set, onto the piece of the pink card that you cut out from the base card. Cut them out using the corresponding punch
- Fold the wings of each butterfly upwards from the body. Put glue on the back of the body of each butterfly and stick them to the acetate. Their wings will remain free and folded slightly upwards.
I hope you like my card. Happy crafting X
