Roses Anniversary

Playing with double sided card to make a soft romantic roses anniversary card

I needed to make an anniversary card this week and found some really pretty double sided card in my collection. I also wanted to make it shaped by folding back the top corner to reveal the pattern beneath but it would have meant the pretty roses paper being on the inside and making signing the card without showing from the front quite difficult. I love the card I eventually came up with as the inside pattern is reflected on the front and it works being so simple.

I have used Lawn Fawns 'Stitched Scalloped Borders' to create the edge of the triangle but you can use either a straight cut or any of your edging tools to create a decorative edge.  This decorative edge is also reflected at the end of the greeting banner.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • 12 x 12 Double sided patterned card (I used a sheet from Soft Romance pack by Craft Sensations that I bought from The Range)
  • White A4 card
  • Stitched Scalloped Borders die by Lawn Fawn
  • Petal Palette stamp and die set from Stampin Up
  • Happy Anniversary greeting stamp (I used one from Beautiful Bouquet stamp set from Stampin Up)
  • Black Ink pad and stamping block (I used a black ink pad from Hobbycraft)
  • Pink and green colouring medium of your choice (I used promarker pens - pale pink and pear green)
  • Double sided foam pads
  • Guillotine
  • Die cutting machine

  1. Cut your patterned card to 25 cm by 12 . 5 cm and fold in half to make the base card (I chose roses on the front and it has pink stripe on the back)
create card base from roses card

  2. Cut another piece from the same patterned card this time measuring 12 . 5 cm squared

  3. I used the largest scallop from Lawn Fawns die set to cut diagonally across the piece of square card as per below (The photo below shows the back of the roses patterned card).  My Die doesn't fit corner to corner so I laid it 1 . 5 cm from each corner as shown.
Cut a square form same card stock and then cut into a triangle

  4. Using black ink stamp the large rose stamp from the Petal Palette stamp set onto white card
Stamp the large rose form Petal Palette stamp set onto white card

  5. Colour in the roses and cut out using the matching die
Colour in stamped roses with promarker pens - pale pink and pear green

  6. Stamp Happy Anniversary using black ink onto a small spare piece of your patterned card. (I stamped onto the light pink stripey side of the card) Cut it into a rectangle and then using the same scalloped die cut a scallop at the left edge of the greeting strip.
Create a 'happy anniversary' greeting banner

  7. Using double sided foam pads attach the triangle piece of patterned card (light pink stripe side up) onto the bottom left of the card base

  8. Attach your coloured in roses ontop of the triangle with double sided foam pads

  9. Using double sided foam pads attach your greeting strip to the top right hand side of your card so the short straight edge matches the side of the base card
Finished floral anniversary card. Roses on front and pink stripe inside

Your finished card. Don't get rid of the excess from the other half of the square, when you cut it into a triangle, as this can be used to make another card. We don't like wasting things :)
