Double edge stepper card

I used Lawn Fawns really cute cat stamps to decorate the double edge stepper card

This weeks post is more about showing you how to do another shaped card rather than the decoration. I will go through how I decorated this card incase you have the stamps and wish to make one similar.

This one takes a bit of measuring, cutting and folding so I recommend you practise on a piece of printer paper first so you know how to make one before starting on some precious card stock.

It's a great card base to make if you have a lot of little stamps or images you wish to show off.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • A4 grey card
  • Light grey wood patterned card (mine came out of a 12 x 12 scrapbooking pad called Nature at Heart by Craft Sensations)
  • A4 white card
  • Lawn Fawns Meow You Doin? stamp and die sets
  • Lawn Fawns Keep on Swimming stamp and die sets
  • Stampin Up's Birthday Banners stamp and matching die sets
  • Black and grey ink pads (I used a black ink pad from Hobbycraft and Stampin Up's smoky slate ink pad)
  • Colouring medium of your choice (I used promarkers - dusky rose, baby pink, soft peach, honeycomb, blue pearl, mustard, cool grey 1, cool grey 2, cool grey 4, cinnamon, sandstone, blush and ivory)
  • Ruler and pencil
  • Embossing tool
  • Double sided tape and double sided foam pads
  • Craft knife
  • stampin aid such as stamparatus or misti

  1. On the back of the grey card measure out the following dimensions:
Measurements needed to make base card
The side measurements from the top are: 7 . 5 cm, 7 . 5 cm, 5 cm, 5 cm, 2 . 5 cm and 2 . 5 cm.  The red line is 5 cm away from each edge

  2. Carefully cut along the red line with craft knife and ruler

  3. Using the embossing tool and a ruler, score the dotted green lines
Measurements made on back of grey card then embossing tool used to score

  4. Fold along the dotted scored lines to create the following shape to create your base card:
Fold the green dotted lines to make up the base card

  5. Out of the grey wood patterned card cut the following rectangles (ensure that you keep the grain all going the same way): 20 cm wide x 1 . 5 cm high, 10 cm wide x 11 . 4 cm high, 4 cm wide x 4 cm high, 4 cm wide x 4 cm high, 4 cm wide x 6 . 4 cm high, 4 cm wide x 6 . 4 cm high

  6. Stick the panels to the card as per the below photo:

  7. Stamp the following images onto white card using a black ink pad (You wont need to stamp the second gold fish bowl without the fish in - I thought I might use it but didn't)
Stamp the cat images onto white card using black ink

  8. Colour in your stamped images and then die cut them out
Colour in the images using promarkers and then die cut out

  9. Stamp the banner using grey ink onto white card then stamp your greeting onto the banner using black ink (Have a look at my previous blog page here for how I lined the greetings up using a piece of acetate in my stamparatus). Die cut the banner

  10. Using foam pads, attach all of your die cuts to the panels on the card.

  11. For a bit of added decoration, I stamped paw prints and Zzz's to the two back side panels using grey ink

I thought the cat images worked well on this card as I had lots of different cats in the same stamp set. It would work really well with flowers, leaves and butterflies. Really anything where you have lots of different images that would work together - preferably one main one and several smaller images.

You can also just have one stepped side rather than both if you wanted to use more of a square central image.
