Peel off flower birthday card

Use decorative papers and peel offs to create a pretty birthday card

I've done a previous card where you stamp onto patterned paper then cut out (click here to see this card) but this time I am using some peel offs. I have quite a few peel offs that I have accumulated over the years and I am trying to find different ways of using them.
Peel off flowers stuck on patterned paper, cut out and glued onto base card

I've used flower peel off's but any pictured peel offs with largish cut outs in them will work. I have a lovely kimono peel off that I may try later with some pink or purple card behind it. I've then used the same patterned paper to create the border at the bottom of the card.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • A4 white card
  • 3 Silver flower peel offs (mine are about 5 . 5 cm in diameter)
  • Silver card
  • 3 different patterned papers (mine were from a 6" x 6" scrapbooking pad)
  • 3 large gems
  • Birthday banners stamp and die set by stampin up
  • Pink ink pad (I used stampin up's melon mambo)
  • Guillotine and scissors
  • Glue and double sided tape

  1. Take a piece of A4 white card and fold it in half to make a tent fold base card

  2. Cut 2 strips from each of your patterned papers, 3 . 5 cm wide

  3. Put a thin line of glue or double sided tape down the long edge of each strip of paper and attach them together to form a stripey piece of paper where each stripe is 3 cm wide (I used my cutting mat that has centimetres marked on it to know where to place each strip)
Glue strips of patterned paper together to form stripey paper

  4. Cut the stripey paper in half and then attach them together to form a longer piece of paper

  5. Use your guillotine to trim the top of the paper to ensure it is straight and then cut the bottom so the paper is 7 cm high

  6. Cut the paper to match the width of your card base ie 21 cm and then attach it to the bottom of the front of your base card
Cut stripey paper down to fit width of base card

Glue stripey paper to bottom edge of base card

  7. Cut a 1 cm strip of silver card and attach it along the top of your patterned paper
Glue a 1cm strip of silver paper to top edge of stripey paper

  8. Stick your peel off flowers to 3 different patterned papers and cut around them
Peel off flowers that I used to make card, each about 5.5cm diameter

Stick 3 peel off flowers to 3 different patterned papers

Cut out the 3 peel off flowers

  9. Put a large gem in the centre of each flower and then stick them to the top of your base card
Attach gem to centre of each flower and attach them to top half of base card

  10. Using pink ink, stamp the banner and greeting onto white card and cut it out. Mount it onto the bottom of your base card
Attach greeting banner to bottom half of card

Because the flowers were quite large and a simple design, they were easy to cut around once you had stuck them to the patterned paper. I have shed peel off's that could be attached to brown paper and leaves that could be attached to different shades of green card which could all be added to your base card to create the picture.
I hope you have fun using this technique - great way to use your peel offs and quite a quick card.
