Show off your really pretty patterned paper in this squares card
Still trying to find ways to show off my patterned papers - so hence this weeks card. Extremely simple and a great way to use up scraps of your favourite patterned paper.
You can also incorporate stamped images into the design. If you have some small stamps, they can form the pictures within the small squares. Or layer them ontop of the squares. I did a couple of extra green samples showing these which you can find at the bottom of this blog page.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- 12 . 5 cm square base card
- Dark blue card cut to 11 . 5 cm square
- Blue patterned papers (I used 9 different papers but just use whatever you have)
- Small piece of white card
- Navy ink pad (I used stampin up's night of navy)
- Fancy square die about 3cm square (You can just use a guillotine to cut squares if you do not own a die or punch of the right size)
- Birthday Banners stamp and die set by Stampin Up
- Glue and double sided foam pads
- Using the fancy square die, cut out 9 squares from your patterned paper. My die, like many, has a hole in the centre - this allows you to line up your die when cutting and pick out certain pictures or patterns ( a good example of this is the third square in the top row of the photo below - I've aligned the die so that the circle is central within the square)
- Stick the dark blue card squarely onto your base card
- Stick the 9 squares onto the blue card with roughly the same spacing around each one (no-one is going to notice if they are not exactly lined up :) )
- Stamp the banner and greeting onto white card using the navy ink pad and then die cut out
- Using double sided foam pads attach the greeting banner to the middle of the card
If you have small stamps you can create images that could sit in each square or hold the banner as per my examples below.
Have fun trying this card - it's a lovely way to show off your fancy papers or just feel pleased with yourself that you can use up those tiny bits of paper you have been holding onto!
