Turn a folded bookmark into a little gift for someone in your life
My children have made these in school before - ones with big googly eyes and jagged teeth making them look like monsters! I love making little gifts for people and these are great bookmarks to make and could be made to go with a gift voucher or book gift or on their own if you are sending just a card. I've made some with just patterned paper and some I have then decorated up to look like animals.
I have used an old stamp set from Stampin up called Playful Pals as they were designed to go with triangular boxes - absolutely perfect for this project. However if you don't have this set you could just draw features for your bookmarks or use other stamp sets you have. I have also done some with googly eyes - particularly the penguin as my son loves penguins and googly eyes!
They can be made with a piece of 6 x 6 paper or card which means if you have any favourite papers that you do not want to use or give away - just make yourself a quick bookmark to mark the pages of your favourite craft book or magazine.

To make the animal bookmarks, just follow the above to make the base and then stamp and cut out the features. I made several animals and show you below which parts to stamp and cut:
Don't just follow my few animals - you can create any animal you wish by just adding different features onto your base bookmark. Such as an owl - big eyes, beak and wings or a cat - triangular ears whiskers and a curly mouth meeting a nose.

You will need
- 6 x 6 inch piece of patterned paper or card (I used Golden Honey, Best Dressed and Tropical escape paper packs from Stampin Up and Dots and Stripe collection paper pad by My Favorite Things)
- If you wish to make animal bookmarks you will need extra coloured card, stamp sets, googly eyes - anything to decorate them (I used Playful Pals stamp and die set by stampin up)
- Glue if you are making animals where pieces need to be stuck on
- Take a piece of 6 x 6 patterned paper with the main pattern or colour on the underside
- Fold the bottom point up to the top point and crease it
- Now fold the right point up to the top point - crease well
- Fold the left point upto the top as per the right point in step 3
- Unfold the last two folds
- Fold the top point, of the front piece of the paper, down to the bottom - crease well.
- Now fold the right point back upwards (as done in step 3)
- Tuck the top part of this fold into the inside
- Repeat step 7 and 8 with the left point
- This makes your bookmark and it can be slotted onto the top corner of the page of your book

Frog - Green base bookmark. Stamp a mouth onto the bookmark. Stamp and cut out eyes and legs |
Sorry - for some reason I didn't take a photo of the pieces! Pig - Pink base bookmark. Stamp and then cut the nose and ears. I then stuck on small googly eyes |
Penguin - Black base bookmark. Cut a white triangle tummy, black arms, orange legs and beak and a pair of small googly eyes. I cut the top off the white triangle so it fit to the penguin better. |
