A fabulous little love card with an unusual character
The character of this card is an Axolotl. I couldn't resist buying this stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn as I absolutely love the little creatures. They are amphibians with the ability to regrow legs etc if needed. They always look like they are smiling :)
Lawn Fawn make several cute valentine style mini stamp sets normally with a play on words just like this Axolotl one - I like you A Lotl ! So this weeks blog is a small love card based on this stamp set.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Lawn Fawns I like you (A Lotl!) stamp and die sets
- Let's Toast stamp set by Lawn Fawn
- Cosmic Shimmer gilding polish in powder blue colour
- White card
- Black ink pad (I use one from Hobbycraft)
- Rectangle die about 8 . 5 cm by 5 cm (You can just cut a rectangle with your guillotine if you do not have a die that size)
- Colouring Medium of your choice (I use Promarkers meadow green, pale pink and blue pearl)
- Stamping aid (I use Stamparatus by Stampin Up)
- Die cutting machine (I use the Sizzix Big Shot
- Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades
- Double sided foam pads and glue
- From a piece of white card roughly 10 cm square, wipe the powder blue cosmic shimmer gilding polish across it to create even coverage.
(Sorry this photo really doesn't do the colour justice -
it's so shimmery, the camera just couldn't pick it up !) - Use the rectangle die to cut out a rectangle from the coloured card made in step 1
- From a white piece of card cut a rectangle measuring 21 cm by 7 cm and fold it in half to create the base card
- Glue the blue rectangle centrally on the front of the base card
- Place the base card in your stamping aid and line up the greetings on the top right hand side of the blue rectangle. I used 'I Love You' from Lets Toast stamp set and '(A Lotl)' from the I like you (A Lotl) stamp set. Because I didn't want the 'I' to stamp from the 'I Love You' greeting, I covered the 'I' with washi tape before inking up the stamps. Remove the washi tape before actually stamping onto your card (The washi tape stops the ink appearing on the 'I').
- Stamp, colour in and die cut out the axolotl, 3 plant stems and one set of bubbles. I used black ink to stamp them and the Promarkers to colour them in
- Using double sided foam pads attach as per the photo below
There's my very cute axolotl love card. The blue metallic gilding can't be seen very well in my photo's but it gives a lovely shimmery watery appearance as a backdrop.
If you have a We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board - you can make yourself an envelope that fits the card perfectly (Do the one that says card size 7 . 6 cm by 10 . 2 cm). If you'd like instructions how to do this click on this link where I show you how to make one.
