Cup of Cheer

Make a gate fold card sending a cup of cheer

Cup of Christmas is a Christmas stamp set by Stampin up, but here I have used it to make a birthday card. It's great when you can find several uses for one stamp set :)

My gatefold card is uneven, larger side on the left and smaller on the right but it's a great way of making a card when you have smaller images.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • A4 deep purple card
  • A4 light purple card
  • Small amount of silver card
  • Outside In Stitched Mug die by Lawn Fawn
  • Thoughtful Blooms stamp set by Stampin Up
  • Small Bloom punch by Stampin Up
  • Cup of Christmas stamp set by Stampin Up
  • Green and purple ink pads (I used mossy meadow and perfect plum by Stampin up and wilted Violet distress ink by Ranger)
  • Small amount of thin silver ribbon
  • 4 silver gems
  • Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades
  • Double sided foam pads and glue
  • Die cutting machine (I use the Bigshot by Sizzix)

  1. Cut the deep purple to 10 cm by 29 . 7 cm

  2. Make a score line 9 . 5 cm from the left thin edge and fold it over
Create the base card out of purple card

fold left side of gatefold card over

  3. Fold the right edge over so the edge of the paper meets the edge from the left side. This creates the gate fold base card
Fold the right side of gatefold over meeting the leftside

  4. Stamp the 'sending you a cup of cheer' greeting using dark purple ink on the bottom right hand side of the card

  5. Stamp the leaves from the thoughtful blooms stamp set using green ink onto light purple card - we are going to cut the cup out with the green leaves in the centre so make sure when you stamp it, you leave enough space around it.

  6. Now die cut the cup ensuring the leaves are in the centre as shown in the below photo

  7. Stamp 3 patterned flowers (from the thoughtful blooms stamp set) using purple ink pad on light purple card and one solid flower using purple ink on light purple card. Cut them out with the small blooms punch

  8. Rub the Wilted Violet distress ink across some light purple card and then die cut the tea bag tag
Create a purple card by rubbing wilted violet distress ink over light purple card

  9. Cut two large and three small steam swirls using the die, from the Outside In Stitched mug die set, out of silver card.

  10. Thread the tea bag tag with a small amount of silver ribbon and stick it to the back of the teacup so the tag hangs over the front
Thread some silver ribbon onto the tea bag tag

Attach the tea bag tag to the cup

  11. Using foam pads, attach the teacup to the left front side of the base card. Glue the steam swirls above the top of the cup.

  12. Using foam pads attach the solid coloured flower on the centre of the teacup and glue a gem to it.

  13. Attach the three patterned flowers to the right hand front of the base card and glue gems to the centre of each flower

That's your finished card. To adjust this card for men or children, just stamp a different pattern on the cup and use different items such as leaves, monsters or fairies down the right hand side.
