Use Lawn Fawns Special Delivery stamp and die set plus the waving pull tab starter set to make this cute interactive Easter Card
I like to be able to use a stamp and die set for many different cards, so today I am using the Special Delivery stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn to make an Easter card. I previously used it to make a valentines card (click here to see this blog if you missed it).
How cute is that chick carrying his basket of Easter eggs? You can change what the bird is carrying and make it a birthday card or graduation card.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Lawn Fawns Special Delivery stamp and die sets
- Lawn Fawns Waving Pull Tab Starter Set
- Lawn Fawns Eggstra Special Easter stamp and die sets
- Small cloud die - roughly 2 . 5 cm wide by 1 . 5 cm tall (Mine came from The Range but you can just cut the shape with scissors if you dont have this die)
- Rectangular die about 11 . 5 cm high by 8 cm wide (cut with a guillotine if you don't have this die)
- Black ink pad (mine came from Hobbycraft)
- Versamark ink pad
- White embossing powder (I used WOW's opaque bright white super fine embossing powder)
- Heat Gun (mine is made by Dovecraft)
- Tiny brad (any colour as it won't be seen)
- Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarkers sandstone, mustard, cornflower, pale pink, pear green and honeycomb)
- Stamping aid (I use the Stamparatus by Stampin Up)
- White C6 scalloped base card
- White card
- Bright blue card
- Double sided foam pads and glue
- Washi tape - just to hold dies in place whilst cutting
- Use the rectangular die to cut a rectangle out of the bright blue card. If you don't have a die this size, use a guillotine to cut a rectangle 11 . 5 cm by 8 cm.
- Place the tab hole die from the Waving Pull Tab starter kit at the top of the blue rectangle on your die cutting machine and use a little piece of washi tape to hold in place
- Place the plastic template from the waving pull tab starter kit below the tab hole die on your rectangle. Then put the wing hole die (from the Lawn Fawns Special Delivery die set- small rectangle with two slits in it) at the bottom of the template and put a bit of washi tape to hold in place. Remove the plastic template and run it through your die cutting machine.
- Put the blue rectangle into your stamping aid and line up the greeting at the very top. Ink the greeting with the Versamark ink pad and stamp onto the card.
- Cover the stamped greeting with the white embossing powder then knock off the surplus and return the surplus to your pot
- Use your heat gun to gently heat the embossing powder on your card. it may take a little time to heat it, but you will see it change from a powder to solid white lettering
- Stamp the chick and two sets of wings from the Special Delivery stamp set onto white card with black ink. Also stamp the basket with eggs from the Eggstra Special Easter stamp. Colour them in and die cut them out. Ensure you cut out the wings with the two wing dies (see the photo below which shows the dies to use)
- From the tab pull starter set, cut the pull tab out of the bright blue card. Cut two tab holders and one of tab top with the arrow out of white card. You should have the below:
- Put a small brad through the back of the hole in the blue tab pull and then through the two wings. Open the brad legs on the front to hold it all in place.
- Push the wings through the slots in the blue rectangle from behind so the tab pull is on the back and the wings show on the front
- Put double sided tape or glue in the centre of the tab pull holders
- On the back of the rectangle, put the first tab pull holder underneath the tab pull just below the notches near the top. Put the second tab holder just below the brad. Ensure the pull tab is straight and does not go above the top of the card.
- Put some more glue or double sided tape on the tabs of the tab holders and fold them round the pull tab to to hold it in place. This ensures the pull tab remains in a straight line
- Fold and glue the tab pull top to the top of the pull tab that shows on the front of the card as per the below photo
- Put foam pads (or foam strips) to the back of the rectangle (ensure they do not interfere with the mechanism of the pull tab) and stick it to the white base card
- Glue the basket to the front of the card as per the below photo. It needs to look like the chick is holding the basket in it's feet, so you may wish to lay the chick on the card so you can line it up.
- Put double sided foam pads on the back of the chick as per the below photo, then stick it on the front between the wings
- Cut 3 clouds out of white card with the small cloud die. Glue them to the front of the card
Your card is finished. Pull the tab up and your little chick flaps it's wings - carrying all those little Easter eggs your way :)
