Animal Birthday Cupcake Card

Use some digital stamps from Lili of the Valley to create these bright and cheerful birthday cards for children

If you love the effect of stamping but do not like the colouring in, then why not use some digital stamps. In todays blog, I will show you how to create a bright and colourful child's birthday card using some digital stamps by Lili of the Valley.

For a small cost you can download these images to your computer and use them time and time again. They come in different sizes and you just print out what you need. Lili of the Valley also do digital stamps that you can print and colour.

I show you how to make a tiger birthday card but if you go to the bottom of my blog page you will see how the same card can be done in different colours with a dog cupcake image instead.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • Cupcake Party Tiger digital stamp (It can be downloaded from Lily of the Valley - click here to be taken to the page - it cost £2.89 when I downloaded it)
  • A4 white, light orange and dark orange card
  • Patterned paper or card (I used dotty paper from a Helz Cuppleditch 12x12 paper pack called Beach Life)
  • 2 fancy shaped rectangle dies - one measuring 11 . 5 cm by 8 cm and the second measuring 9 . 5 cm by 6 . 5 cm (You can use plain rectangle dies or cut with guillotine if you do not have fancy shaped dies)
  • Stitched scalloped borders dies by Lawn Fawn
  • Small circular punch or die (I used a 1/2" punch)
  • Guillotine
  • Die cutting machine
  • Glue and double sided foam pads

  1. Cut a piece of light orange card to 15 cm by 21 cm and fold in half to create your base card

  2. Cut a piece of dark orange card to measure 6 cm by 12 cm. Use the middle sized stitched scalloped border die to cut along both long edges of this card as per the below photo's.

Cut other side of 6cm dark orange card strip using scalloped die

  3. Cut a piece of patterned paper or card to 5 cm by 12 cm. Use the middle sized stitched scalloped border die to cut along both long edges of this paper as per the below photo's.
Use scalloped border dies again to cut a 5 cm strip of patterned paper

  4. Glue the patterned paper strip centrally onto the dark orange strip

  5. Glue this to the lower edge of your base card, lining it up with the right edge. Cut away the excess that is overhanging the left edge of your base card
Glue strip to lower edge of base card

Trim strip to fit base card

  6. Download the tiger image and print page 3 onto white card (This is the page with the smallest images on)

  7. Use the smaller rectangle die to cut out the image and the larger rectangle die to cut a shape out of the dark orange card
Use fancy rectangular dies to die cut out the tiger image from LOTV

  8. Glue the image centrally onto the dark orange rectangle
Glue the image rectangle to the dark orange rectangle

  9. Using double sided foam pads stick the layered image onto your base card towards the top right hand corner
Use double sided foam pads to mount image to base card

  10. Cut out 3 dark orange circles using a small punch or die. Glue these to the left hand side of the strip on your base card as shown in the below photo.

That's your finished card. I made another one using the same idea but used blue colours and a dog cupcake image that I bought from Lili of the Valley (Click here if you wish to purchase that image)
