Peachy Flower

This greeting card all revolves around a circle that's cut out

I really like using beautiful patterned paper and love how cutting out part of that paper creates a focal point for your card. The really easy card I made a couple of weeks back is another example of this type of card and can be found here if you missed it.
card made using 'You're a Peach' DSP by stampin up

I've used patterned paper from Stampin Up's 'You're a peach' designer paper pack again - absolutely love the colours and patterns. But as usual, I am hoping this blog will give you an idea on how to make your own card, using your patterned papers in your stash. I've used a flower stamp as the main focal image but this could be anything to match or coordinate with your patterned paper.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • Patterned paper (I used Stampin Up's 'You're a Peach' designer paper pack)
  • Dark orange and white A4 card
  • Flower stamp (I used the larger flower in the 'Free as a Bird' stamp set by Stampin Up)
  • 5 cm circle die
  • 4 cm decorative circle die (You can use a 4 cm circle die and decorate around the edge with ink or gems if you do not have a decorative circle die)
  • Leaf die (about 4 cm long, excluding stem)
  • Dark brown ink pad (I used Early Expresso ink pad by Stampin Up)
  • Colouring medium of your choice (I used promarkers - oatmeal and honeycomb)
  • Black ink pen
  • Dark orange ink pad (I used Potter's Clay dew drop ink pad by Memento)
  • Glue
  • Guillotine
  • Die cutting machine

  1. Cut a piece of dark orange A4 card to 21 cm by 15 cm and fold in half to form the base card. I didn't have dark orange card so made the base card in white then glued dark orange paper to the front of the base card

  2. Cut a piece of patterned paper to 14 cm high by 5 cm wide

  3. Place the 5 cm circle die onto the patterned paper towards the bottom of the paper but so it hangs half off the edge and run it through your die cutting machine. Keep the half circle that's cut out - it will be needed later.
Use a 5cm circle die to cut out half a circle from your patterned paper

Keep the half circle cut out for later

  4. Use the dark orange ink pad to ink the edges of the patterned paper

  5. Glue the patterned paper to the front of the base card as per the below photo

  6. Stamp the flower onto white card using the brown ink pad, then die cut it out using the decorative 4 cm die

  7. Colour in the flower

  8. Die cut 2 leaves - I cut them from some of the patterned paper pack as the back of one of the papers has a green pattern on it. Glue them together as per the below photo

  9. Glue the leaves to the back of the decorative circle

  10. Glue the decorative circle to the front of the base card in the cut out circle as per the below photo

  11. Place the half circle (don't glue it), cut out in step 3, on the card as per the below photo. Use the edge of the circle as a guide to write Happy Birthday. Remove the half circle and your card is complete
Use half circle as template for the greeting

Write your greeting around the half circle

If you do not like your writing, you could use a stamp for the greeting or peel off's. However I am sure if you write your greeting the recipient would really appreciate it as it was crafted especially by you.
