A simple birthday card that is made beautiful by the use of pretty paper
We all have such busy lives, so I really like a simple greeting card. Although this card is really quite simple, it still looks really effective with the use of beautiful paper and having a bold Happy birthday banner on a slant.
This card can easily be changed for other occasions - why not make a child's card using a colouring book image for the top patterned paper piece. Or an invite by using a calendar image and then circling the date in question
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- A6 white base card
- Patterned paper/card (mine is a piece of wrapping paper)
- 2 coordinating coloured plain papers/card
- White and silver card
- Happy Birthday greeting stamp (I used a stamp from the 'Sweet Ice Cream' stamp set by Stampin Up)
- Versamark ink pad
- White embossing powder
- Scalloped edging die
- Guillotine with cutting blade
- Heat gun
- Die cutting machine
- Glue or double sided tape
- Cut a piece of silver card to 16 . 5 cm by 11 . 5 cm and glue centrally to the front of the base card
- Cut a piece of backing card to 16 cm by 11 cm. Mine is a pinky purple that goes well with my patterned paper
- Cut the patterned paper to 16 cm high by 11 cm wide and cut a piece off the bottom diagonally (roughly 2 cm left edge to 6 cm on right edge)
- Glue the patterned paper to the backing card cut out in step 2 so it aligns with the top edge
- Cut a 4 cm wide strip from the other coordinating coloured plain card (mine is a bluey purple)
- Stamp your greeting onto this strip using the Versamark ink pad. Cover the stamped greeting with embossing powder, knock off the excess and then heat with a heat gun until the powder melts. You can use peel off's if you prefer.
- Using the scalloped edge die, cut a strip from white card and then glue it to the bottom of the strip with your greeting on. (If you don't have a scalloped edge die, you can always cut the side off a scalloped base card and use that for the edging)
- Glue the greeting to the backing card so it covers the lower edge of the patterned card and is on a slant
- Use a craft knife and metal ruler or some scissors to remove the strip that overhangs the backing card
- Glue the backing card centrally to the front of the base card
