Fold Back Decorative Paper

Another card which you can make to show off your favourite decorative papers

I have lots of really pretty decorative papers and it's lovely to make a card that shows them off. If your paper is so pretty and decorative you need very little embellishments to make the most of it.
pretty card using decorative papers

You need paper that has patterns on both sides, which I have quite a few of, so it's a lovely way to show them both off in one card.

This is such a universal card and can be made for any occasion from invites to thank you cards to get well soon.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • Double sided patterned card or paper (I used sheets from Purple Paper Block and Soft Romance, both by Craft Sensations)
  • Greeting peel off (You can stamp a greeting if you prefer)
  • 4cm decorative circle die
  • Two different size of paper flowers in complimentary colours
  • Gem
  • Glue and double sided foam pads
  • Die cut machine
  • Craft knife and metal ruler
  • Embossing tool
  • Guillotine

  1. Cut a rectangle 25 cm by 17 . 5 cm from a piece of card to make your base card. I used a piece of plain purple card to make my base card. Fold your card in half so it ends up being 12 . 5 cm wide by 17 . 5 cm high

  2. Cut a really pretty piece of double sided decorative paper to 11 cm wide by 16 . 5 cm high

  3. Use your craft knife and metal ruler to cut a 7 cm straight line into the decorative paper from the right edge about half way up.
Cut a 7cm line in from right edge about half way up

  4. We are now going to make two triangular folds either side of the cut line. Line your ruler up with the left end point of the cut line and about 4 cm down from the right end point of the cut line. Run your embossing tool along the line joining up the two points. Do the same above the cut line.
Score diagonal line from left end of cut edge to 4cm down from right end of cut edge

Score diagonal line above cut line from left end of cut line to 4 cm above right end of cut line

End up with 2 score lines emanating from left end of cut line

  5. Fold along these two scored lines, so they fold to the front of the decorative paper. Glue this decorative paper to the front of the base card (leaving the flaps unglued)
Glue patterned paper to base card

  6. Use double sided foam pads to pin back the folded triangles
Put double sided foam pads on back of triangular folded sections

stick the folded sections down so the inside paper now shows on the front

  7. Put your peel off greeting in the gap that's created by the folded back triangles
Put a peel off greeting in the gap created by the folded sections

  8. Use the decorative circle die to cut a circle from the base card coloured card
Cut 4 cm circle from base card colour

  9. Glue two flowers and a gem ontop of the decorative circle
Glue 2 paper flowers and a gem onto the 4cm die cut circle-

  10. Use double sided foam pads to attach this circle to the base card at the left point of the cut line
Stick the circle to the base card at the left end cut line

That's your pretty card made. Quite simple but you do not need to do too much as the paper is so pretty.
