Patterned Birthday Card

Use patterned paper to make this simple yet effective birthday card

I have some really lovely patterned paper and I am always looking for ways to show it off on my cards. This week is another one of those !
Greeting card that uses patterned papers from Neutrals by Stampin Up

I needed a more manly birthday card this week, so used beige and brown patterned papers but you could really go to town with any patterned papers you have. This is a simple card to make and would therefore make great thank you or thinking of you cards

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • 12 . 5 cm square base card
  • Dark cream and brown plain card
  • Selection of cream or brown patterned papers (I used some from Stampin Up's Neutrals designer series paper)
  • Happy Birthday greeting stamp (I used one from Beautiful Bouquet stamp set by Stampin Up)
  • Brown ink pad (I used soft suede by Stampin Up)
  • Two square dies, one about 5 cm square and the other 11 . 5 cm square (You can always use a guillotine to cut these if you do not have the same size dies)
  • Two circular dies, one about 3 . 5 cm in diameter and the other about 5 cm (Your greeting stamp needs to fit in the smaller one, so adjust for your size stamp. If you change the smaller size die, always change the larger one so that it is just a little bigger than the smaller one)
  • 4 small clear gems
  • Glue and double sided foam pads
  • Die cutting machine

  1. Cut a piece of dark cream card to 12 . 5 cm square

  2. Stamp your greeting in the middle of the dark cream square using the brown ink pad
Stamp your greeting in centre of dark cream square

  3. Use the smaller circle die to cut out the greeting
Use circle die to cut out greeting

  6. Use the smaller square die to cut 4 different patterned papers

  7. Glue the four patterned papers to the dark brown square

  9. Die cut the larger circle from brown card
Cut a 5cm circle from dark brown card

  10. Glue the smaller circle with the greeting on it to the centre of the dark brown circle

  11. Attach this to the centre of the squares using double sided foam pads

  12. Glue a small gem to the greeting in place of the dot over the I and 3 gems to the lower right square
