Use Lawn Fawns 'Let's Toast' stamp and die sets to make this interactive funny anniversary card
I love interactive cards and this one is brilliant - the toast pops up out of the toaster! It really brings a smile to my face.
I have had this stamp and die set for a while and was a bit daunted on how it went together. It's actually quite easy though and now I'm looking through my other stamp sets to see if they would work with the toast pull tab mechanism.
The stamp set comes with lots of different phrases and greetings so you can turn it into a different greeting card rather than anniversary card. I wasn't going to use the smiley faces on the items but my son insisted I did.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- White A5 base card
- Let's Toast stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn
- Let's toast pull tab add-on die set by Lawn Fawn
- Rectangle die measuring about 11 . 5 cm high by 8 cm wide
- White, red, blue and craft card
- Black ink pad
- Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarker pens - cornflower, cool grey 2, sandstone, buttercup and cinnamon)
- Stamping aid (not essential but it helps placement of your greeting stamps - I use Stamparatus by Stampin Up)
- Small heart punch or die
- Die cutting machine
- Glue and double sided foam pads
- Use the rectangle die to cut one from white card and one from craft card
- Cut the craft card rectangle to 3 . 5 cm high and glue it to the base of the white rectangle matching up the lower edges
- Use the die from the Pull Tab die set which cuts a semi circle to cut a semi circle centrally out of the top of the white rectangle
- Using the black ink pad stamp the toaster, butter pot, knife and two slices of toast onto white card. Stamp faces onto the toaster and pieces of toast. Colour in and die cut out.
- Lay the toaster onto the white rectangle so the bottom of it is sitting about 1 cm below the top of the craft card. Lay the thin straight rectangular slot die from the pull tab set onto the toaster so the top of it is just above the top of your toaster. This die is used to create the movement slot of the toast. It needs to lay on the vertical centre line. Remove the toaster image and run through your die cutting machine
- Cut the slider guide holder and pull slider from white card and the slider top from blue card as per the following photo
- Fold along the score lines of the pull slider
- With the flaps of both sides upright and together (as shown in the first photo below), thread them through the back of the white rectangle and through the slot cut out in step 5. Fold them out flat
- Fold along the score lines of the slider guide holder and then put a small amount of glue on the back of the middle section
- Glue this to the back of the white rectangle, just below the semi circle cut out of the top and behind the pull slider. This slider guide holder is to keep the slider pull straight so make sure when you glue it down the slider pull is vertically central on the back of the card.
- Put glue on the tab section of the slide guide holder, fold the square part over the slider pull and press the tab down to hold it all in place. The slider pull should now move freely up and down but remain vertically straight
- Glue one of your pieces of toast to the tabs pocking through the slot on the front of the white rectangle
- Pull the toast to the upmost position, then stamp your greetings using black ink onto the card. I used my stamping aid so I could line all of the wording up. I used 'poppin up to say....', 'A toast to us' and 'my butter half' in that order down the card with the last one being at the bottom right of the rectangle
- Using the curvy slot die from the pull tab dies set, cut a slot in the top of the toaster
- Put double sided foam pads on the back of the toaster image but only down the left and right edges - the middle is left free for the toast to move freely
- Stick the toaster to the front of the rectangle, ensuring the toast is fed through the slot cut out in step 14 and the top of the toaster just covers the top of the slot cut out in the base rectangle
- Ensure the pull slider is pushed down to it's lowest place (The toast is hidden in the toaster) then trim the top of the pull slider in line with the top of the rectangle
- Fold the blue pull slider top along the score line, then glue the pull slider top to the top of the pull slider, ensuring the triangle cut out side shows on the front
- Cut a piece of blue card to 9 . 5 cm by 14 cm and glue it centrally to your A5 base card
- Place double sided foam pads to the back of the rectangle, avoiding any of them contacting the pull slider, and stick it centrally to the base card
- Using foam pads, stick the other piece of toast to the top right of the base card, the butter pot to the lower left of the card and the knife below the lower greeting
- Die cut 3 tiny hearts from red card and stick randomly to the front of the base card
That is your toast pull slider card completed. Pull the tab up and watch your toast pop out of the toaster - hours of fun :)
