A picture changing card where the flowers grow
I really like interactive cards and this one is really fun. Just pull the tab up and the picture changes from a pot of stems being watered to a pot full of pretty flowers. All done with Lawn Fawn's Magic Picture Changer die set.
Lawn Fawn have a few stamp sets that work well with this magic changer die set such as fox's that change outfits. However you can use other stamp sets - a bare tree and then one with leaves or blossom would work quite well.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Magic Picture Changer die by Lawn Fawn
- Garden Before 'n afters stamp and die sets
- 5 . 5 cm Square die
- Patterned paper (I used a sheet of 6" white dots on green background paper from Best Dressed Designer Paper from Stampin Up)
- Black ink pad
- Light and dark blue ink pads
- Blending sponge (I used Blend-It Blending tool by Woodware)
- Colouring medium of your choice (I use Promarker pens - rose pink, black, mustard, blossom, amethyst, coll grey 2, spice and pear green)
- Sticky notes
- White card
- Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades
- Die cutting machine
- Glue and double sided tape
- Cut two strips of white card slightly bigger than the two largest dies in the magic picture changing die set
- Lay the square frame die from the magic picture changer die set over one of the white card strips as a guide to stamping your images within. (Your picture will be where the slats will be cut on the larger two dies from the sets).
- Stamp the stems in the plant pot towards the bottom of the square using the black ink pad
- Stamp the watering can in the top left corner using the black ink pad and then stamp the water droplets from the watering can using dark blue ink
- On the other white card strip, using the square die as a guide again, stamp the flowers in the pot using black ink.
- Create some masks from sticky notes by stamping the three stamps again using black ink (stems in pot, watering can and flowers in pot). Try and get them so they have lots of the sticky bit on the back of them)
- Die cut the stamped images out of the sticky notes
- Cover the pictures on the white card strips with the sticky note masks
- Use a blending sponge to blend light blue ink over the sticky notes to create a light blue background around the images.
I laid the magic picture changer die over the picture to ensure I had covered the hole area with blue ink - Remove the sticky note masks and keep for future projects. It will leave a white image that can now be coloured in
- Use the two larger dies from the magic picture die set to cut out the images. Cut the stems and watering can strip with the largest of these dies and the flowers in a pot with the smaller of the two dies
- The larger of the two die cuts has thin tabs running down the side edges. Fold them behind, crease with a bone folder and then unfold them again. Put thin double sided tape on both sides of these tabs. With the back face up, remove the tape liner and stick down.
- Slot the slots of the first picture into the slots of the second picture
- Slot the pull tab through a slot in the middle of the first picture
- This second picture should now sit between the side tabs. Remove the other double sided tape liner and fold the top down. If you pull the tab up, the picture will change from the stems in a pot to flowers in a pot
- Using the 5 . 5 cm square die, cut a hole from the centre of a piece of 6x6 patterned paper
- Put double sided tape around the picture making sure none of the tape touches the slots as this will stop the picture moving
- Stick the patterened paper (cut out in step 16) ontop of the picture making sure the picture shows through the square hole that was cut out.
- Cut any of the patterned paper away that overhangs the magic picture - be careful when trimming away at the top that you do not cut the pull tab
- Die cut the pull tab topper out of the same patterned paper. Fold in half and glue to the top of the pull tab.
- Make a base card from white card by cutting a rectangle 21 cm tall by 8 . 5 cm wide and folding it in half to create a tent style base card
- Glue the magic picture changer to the front of the base card
- Using the square frame die from the magic picture changer die set, cut one from white card. Glue it to the base card, framing the picture
- Add a greeting if you wish to and your card is now complete
