Make this cute Mummy Halloween pillow gift box from black and white card
I made a bat halloween box a couple of years back (click here if you missed it) and thought I'd have a go at another halloween pillow box this year - this time it's mummy!
I used a sizzix pillow box die but you can use any pillow box die you have or download my template - see the link in the 'you will need section'.
It's basically a black pillow box and then it is wrapped in paper strips - maybe you are a neater crafter than me, but I got very sticky doing this one, so make sure your crafting surface is covered to protect it.
Luna my dog decided to join me in my make this week - she's so cute but doesn't lay still very often - too nosey! So I thought I'd add her photo so you can see what I have to contend with when crafting - she may look like she is asleep but as soon as I try to run something through my sizzix machine, shes batting it with her paw!
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Black and white card
- White photocopier paper
- Pillow box die (Or download my template here)
- 2 . 5 cm circle die or punch
- 1/2 inch circle die or punch
- Glue and strong double sided tape
- Guillotine with cutting blade (Or scissors)
- Die cutting machine
- Die cut the pillow box from black card (my pillow box die cuts half a box so I needed to die cut two.)
- Score along all fold lines
- If your pillow box die is like mine and you have to cut 2 pieces then put strong double sided tape on one of the tab sections and stick the other pillow box section to it. If not move onto the next step
- Die cut two white circles using the 2 . 5 cm circle die or punch. Cut two black circles from a 1/2 inch circle punch or die. Glue the black circles onto the white circles to create eyes
- Glue the eyes to the pillow box as per the following photo
- Cut lots of strips from white photocopier paper about 1 . 5 cm wide. These will form the wraps for your mummy
- Put glue on the back of one strip and place across your pillow box. Keep layering these strips, avoiding the eyes but covering the front and back of your pillow box
- Once covered, turn over and trim away any white paper that overhangs the black pillow box shape
- Put a strip of strong double sided tape down the other tab and stick to the back to form the pillow box tube shape
- At this point I realised that I hadn't quite covered the front and when folded you could see black at the top and bottom. If you do the same as me, just unfold the top and bottom of the box, continue to stick some more strips of paper across. Trim any overhang and then refold
There's your very cute mummy box - ready to be filled with treats :)
