Gonk Christmas

Make this fun Christmas card using a large Gonk stamp

These gonk images have been quite popular recently but I often struggle using larger stamps especially if I do not want a large card such as A5. I have created a card base that has a shorter front panel so that you can see the right hand part of the back panel from the front. Just makes it a little different from the norm!
Use Woodwares Christmas tree gnome stamp to create this fun card

I just love the phrase - 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' - and teamed up with the Gonk image it just makes me giggle that he looks ready for Christmas :)

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • Red and white card
  • Christmas tree gnome stamp by Woodware
  • Black ink pad
  • Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarker pens - blush, cool grey1, ivory, berry red, pine, tulip yellow and buttercup)
  • 2 nesting rectangle dies
  • Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades
  • Glue

  1. Cut a piece of white card to 21cm wide by 15 cm tall. Score from left edge at 8cm. Fold along this score line. This will create your base card with a shorter front panel

  2. Cut a piece of red card to 9 . 5 cm wide by 15 cm tall. Glue it to the front left panel of the base card
Glue red panel to the front of base card

  3. Cut a piece of white card to 8 . 5 cm wide by 14 cm tall. Stamp the gonk onto this piece using black ink pad. Colour in. I've used a light grey pen to draw an outline on the outside of the gonk - this makes it look a little like a shadow and therefore the gonk doesn't look quite so stark on the white card

  4. Glue this centrally onto the front left panel of the base card

  5. Stamp the greeting onto white card using black ink pad and cut out using the smaller of the rectangle dies
Stamp greeting onto white card and cut out with rectangle die

  6. Die cut the larger rectangle die out of red card. Glue the white greeting centrally ontop of the red rectangle and then glue this to the front of the base card - ensure you only attach it by the left edge so that it doesn't stick to the back of the card
Die cut slightly larger rectangle from red card and glue greeting ontop

Glue greeting rectangle to front of base card

  7. Stamp some stars down the back right edge so they can be seen from the front of the card
Stamp stars to inside right hand edge of card

The stars can then be seen from front of card

  8. Colour in the stars using the red, green and yellow pens
    Colour in the stars

That is your card finished
