A fun interactive card where the picture magically changes from a wrapped to an open present
Use Lawn Fawns Magic Picture Changer die to make this really cool interactive card. I've matched that with Lawn Fawns Birthday before 'n after stamp set where they have two pictures, one before and the other after. I choose to use the birthday present images.
I've made one of these magic picture changing cards before - where a tray of flowers grow. Click here if you missed this one

You will need
- Magic Picture Changer die by Lawn Fawn
- Birthday Before 'N Afters stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn
- 5 . 5 cm square die
- White card
- Colouring medium of your choice (I used Promarker Pens - pumpkin, leaf green, tulip yellow and coolgrey1)
- Black ink pad
- Blue ink pad (I used pale aqua by Versamark)
- Blending tool (Mine came from Woodware)
- Watercolor Wishes Rainbow 6x6 paper pack by Lawn Fawn
- Washi tape (used for masking so it doesn't matter what pattern/colour it is)
- Die cutting machine
- Stamping aid (I use Stamparatus by Stampin Up)
- Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades
- Pencil and eraser
- 2 post it notes
- Thin double sided tape and glue
- Cut 2 pieces of white card to 21 cm by 10 cm
- Lay the largest die from the Magic Picture Changer Die set onto one of the pieces of white card and use a pencil to lightly mark around the apperture in the centre of the die as per the below photo's. Do the same to the second piece of white card
- Stamp the wrapped present using black ink onto one of the pieces of white card within the pencil mark area. On the other piece of white card stamp the open present using black ink (also within the pencil marks)
- Stamp both images onto post it notes so part of the image is over the back of the sticky part of the post it. Use the corresponding die's to cut out the present images on the post it notes. (If you do not have the die set, then use scissors to cut around the images)
- Rub out the pencil marks on the white pieces of card
- Place the cut out post it note images over the images that were stamped onto the pieces of white cards
- Use the blending tool with the blue ink pad to spread the ink colour around the post it notes on the white card to create a background. (Lay the square frame die from the magic picture changing die set over the post it note images to check that you have colour right over the edges)
- Remove the post it note images and keep somewhere for future uses. Colour in the images on the white card
- Place the largest die from the Magic Picture Changing die set over the piece of white card with the wrapped present on it. Place the second largest die piece, from the same set, over the open present image. Cut both of them out
- Fold the tabs on the wrapped present die cut. Put some thin double sided tape on the underneath of these tabs and stick down
- Put some double sided thin tape ontop of the tab but do not pull the tape liner off yet
- Slot the wrapped present image into the open present die cut and then put the pull tab through the slot as per the below photo's:
- Ensure the die cut with the open present on it, is sitting within the tab edges and not getting stuck on the tape. Remove the tape liner and fold the back down
- Put double sided tape around the edge of the image ensuring none touches the moving parts of the picture changer as per the below photo
- Use the 5 . 5 cm square die to cut a square out of the middle of a piece of orange patterned paper from the rainbow paper pack. Stick the orange paper over the image, so the image can be seen through the square apperture
- Turn the image over and cut away the excess orange patterned paper that overhangs the magic picture changer - ensure you do not cut the pull tab
- Cut the tab top from a piece of the patterned orange paper
- Put glue on the back of the tab top and fold it in half over the top of the tab pull
- Cut a frame using the die from the Magic Picture Changing die set, out of spotty orange paper from the paper pack
- Glue the frame around the edge of the square apperture
- Cut a piece of white card to 21 cm by 8 . 5cm and fold in half to create a tent fold base card
- Glue the magic picture changer to the centre of the base card
- Using the black ink pad, stamp Happy Birthday from the Birthday Before 'n Afters stamp set above the frame on the base card (I lined mine up in my stamping aid to ensure it would stamp properly)
- I wanted to stamp the words 'Hope your day is filled with surprises' but it is too long for the space below the frame. So I lined the card up in my stamping aid and then lined up the 'Hope your day is filled' part of the wording stamp below the frame. Pick the stamp up with the stamping aids clear plastic tab. Put some washi tape over the 'with surprises' words and then ink up the stamp. Remove the washi tape and stamp onto your card.
- Thoroughly clean and dry the stamp. Then place back into the stamping aid so the words 'with surprises' lines up below the words stamped in point 24. Pick the stamp up with the stamping aids plastic tab. Cover the previous words with washi tape, ink the stamp, remove the washi tape and stamp onto your card. You now have the long phrase stamped onto your card but split into two lines so it fits the card size
Your card is now finished. If you pull the tab up, the wrapped present opens and shows the surprise :)
