Use Lawn Fawns Succulent die set to make this birthday card
This die set by Lawn Fawn is such fun. There are lots of little dies within the set to make up your own plants - just mix and match the cut outs. You can even add smiley faces to the pots if you wish :)
I needed a card for a gardener this week, so this seemed the perfect die to use. It's such a versatile die set - for example, the leaves could be cut out of pink card, making it a flower instead of a leaf plant. You could cut 4 cactus like plants and just stack them on each other making a far larger plant. In my example above, I made a floral/leaf arrangement in the centre of the card which doesn't need a pot. So use your imagination, don't just follow the examples :)
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Plant a Succulent die set by Lawn Fawn
- Happy Birthday greeting stamp (I used one from Sweet Ice Cream stamp set by Stampin Up)
- White, light pink, mid pink, dark pink, light green, dark green and brown card
- Blue paper (I used a slighlty blue mottled paper from a Scrapbooking paper pack called Lovely Mystery by Craft Sensations)
- Pink ink pad (I used Melon Mambo by Stampin Up)
- Stamping aid (I use Stamparatus by Stampin Up. It's not essential for this card but will help with placement of your stamp)
- Guillotine with cutting and scoring blades (or a white DL size base card)
- Glue
- Using some dies from the Plant a Succulent die set by Lawn Fawn, cut the following shapes -
- From light green card:
- From dark green card:
- From light pink card:
- From mid pink card:
- From dark pink card:
- From brown card cut two using the top half of the pot die (this creates earth for your pots, however I ended up only needing one):
- Glue the dark pink pot rim to the mid pink pot. Then glue the mid pink pot rim to the light pink pot
- Put a small amount of glue on the bottom of the light green leaves. Then slide it into the mid pink pot
- Put a small amount of glue on the bottom of the dark green leaves and slide it into the mid pink pot behind the light green leaves
- Turn the mid pink pot over and add a small dab of glue on the back of the leaves where there is a gap in the pot. Stick the brown earth piece across here. When you turn the pot back over, you can then see the earth fills the gap where the leaves do not go
- Put a small amount of glue on the bottom of the dark green cactus part. Stick it into the light pink pot to the right side
- Put a small amount of glue on the bottom of the light green cactus plant. Stick this into the light pink pot behind the dark green cactus but to the left of the pot. My cactus filled the pot and there was no need to add the earth piece. However if you have any gap visible in the pot, just add the earth piece as you did to the other pot in step 5
- Put a small amount of glue on the back of a mid and a light pink flowers and stick to the tops of the cactus plants
- Cut a piece of white card to 21 cm wide by 19 . 8 cm tall and then fold in half to create a tent fold DL base card
- Cut a piece of blue paper to 20 cm wide by 8 . 9 cm tall and glue to the centre of the base card
- Glue the pot of leaves to the left hand side of the blue rectangle on the base card and the cactus plant to the right hand side
- Glue the smaller of the leaf stems (one dark green and one light green) to the centre of the card as per the below photo
- Next glue the larger of the leaf stems to the centre, so they are horizontal but with the stems meeting in the middle
- Glue the mid pink flower to leaf stems so it covers where the stems meet
- Glue the dark pink outer petals to the mid pink flower
- Glue two smaller flowers either side of the mid pink flower
- Stamp the Happy Birthday greeting, using pink ink, onto the centre of the base card between the two pots.
