Make a really cool 3 dimensional card using some images from a crafting magazine
In the Papercraft Essentials magazine out at the moment (issue 225), there is a luxury paper pad called potting shed. I loved the images and needed to make a gardening greeting card, so I bought the magazine and here is my card:
You get lots of different images within this pack which also includes some backing paper, so you can follow my make but adjust it to your tastes by including different images. I've also got tons of images and papers left to make more cards :)
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- Potting Shed 8x8 Luxury Paper pad (found on Papercraft Essentials issue 225 magazine)
- Scalloped box card pop-up die by Lawn Fawn
- Watercolor Wishes Raindbow 6x6 paper pack by Lawn Fawn
- Dark brown and white card
- Tiny Black gem
- Small blue star gem
- Glue, strong double sided tape and 3d foam pads
- Die Cutting machine
- Bone folder
- Cut 2 scalloped box parts and 2 internal dividers from dark brown card
- Fold along all crease lines on these box parts except for one of the back flaps as shown in the photo below
- Put double sided tape on all of the tabs (as seen in the below photo's by the red tape liners)
- Take the tape liner from one of the box side tabs and stick the two box parts together
- Take the tape liner off the lefthand side tab on one of the internal dividers and place it on the side panel of the inside of the box, so the top edge lines up with the score lines of the box (as per the below photo)
- Take the tape liner off the left tab of the second internal divider and place it on the side panel of the box spaced a little further away from the last one stuck to the box, but with its top edge lining up with the previous one
- Take the remaining tape liners off and fold the right hand half of the box over the lefthand side. This will ensure the internal dividers stick to the opposite side panel of the box in the correct position. You can now open the box up where you will see 2 internal dividers within a scalloped edged box
- Using dies from the Scalloped Box Card Die set, cut one large and two small flap rectangles out of the green paper within the Potting shed paper pack
- Cut a large blue rectangle from blue paper from the Watercolor wishes paper pack (Use the largest rectangle die from the Scalloped box card die set)
- Glue the blue rectangle to the inside of the back panel
- Glue the green rectangles to the front and side scalloped flaps
- Select some images from the Potting Shed Paper pack to make up your scene. The photo below shows the main ones that I have chosen and the following instructions show how I put it together. Put a small amount of glue along the back bottom of the shed and glue centrally to the back internal divider
- Put some glue along the lower part of the deck chair and glue it to the left hand side of the front internal divider
- Put some glue along the bottom front of the fence panel and glue it to the inside of the front of the box so it sticks up above the scalloped flap
- Glue the flowers to the front flap over the green rectangle
- I've used 3d foam pads to attach the radio to the front flap, the pile of flower pots to the left hand flap and the secateurs to the right hand flap
- I stuck the plant marker (which also comes inside the magazine) to the inside back of the box on the right hand side
- Use the bunting dies within the scalloped Box die set to cut a curved string strand from white card and 3 sets of rectangle bunting flags from green paper (from the Potting shed paper pack) also red and blue flags from paper from the watercolor wishes paper pack
- Select 5 of the bunting flags to use in your design - I chose two red, two green and one blue. Fold them in half and glue them to the white string strand. Then glue the right hand side of the string strand to the back of the plant marker and the left hand side of the string to the left hand edge of the blue rectangle
- I also stuck two pink flowers (from the potting shed paper pack), one next to the shed on the internal divider and the other towards the bottom of the plant marker
- Stick a tiny black gem to the door of the shed to make a handle and then stick the blue star gem over the left hand edge of the string on the blue rectangle
- Cut a square from white card (either using a die or guillotine) and glue to the back of the box. This is where you can write your message.
This is your finished card. It folds flat for putting into an envelope and posting. The card I made above fits nicely into a 6x6 square envelope.
