Stripy Birthday

Make a stripy birthday card using border stamps

This is a really bright and cheery birthday card which has been made quite simply using border stamps with some bright coloured ink pads.
Stripy stamped greeting card made using Borders to Background stamp set by Stampin Up

You can use any colour ink pads and any style of border stamps. I've used quite colourful ink pads but you could make it with a several tones of one colour. If you dont have border stamps, why not use strips of paper or ribbons?

If you are using stamps just make sure you clean and dry them properly otherwise you will mark your card when re using them.

Follow the below link to find out how the card was made

You will need
  • A6 white base card
  • Blue and white card
  • Borders to background stamp set by Stampin Up
  • Happy Birthday stamp (I used one from Sweet Ice Cream stamp set by Stampin Up)
  • Blue, pink, yellow and purple ink pads (I used ones from Stampin Up - island indigo, melon mambo, crushed curry and perfect plum)
  • 6 small blue star gems
  • Stamping aid (I used Stamparatus by Stampin Up)

  1. Cut a rectangle from white card measuring 8 . 9 cm wide by 13 . 4 cm high

  2. Put the white rectangle into your stamping aid and line up the first border die along the top of your rectangle. (I find if I put my paper near the sides of my stamping aid, it doesn't stamp particularly well, so I cut two strips of about 3 cm wide and put one along the top edge and one down the side, then line my rectangle against that). Pick the stamp up on the stamping aids plastic tab, ink it up with purple ink and stamp onto the rectangle
Line your rectangle up in your stamping aid

Line up the first border stamp along the top of your white card rectangle

Stamp the first border stamp with purple ink

  3. Line your next border stamp so it is just below the one just stamped. Pick it up on the stamping aids tab, ink it with a blue ink pad and stamp onto the white rectangle
Line the speckle border stamp up below the last one

  4. Line the spotty border stamp just below the previous one, pick it up with the stamping aids tab, ink it with a red ink pad and stamp it onto the white rectangle
Line up the spotty border below the speckled one

  5. Line the star border stamp just below the previous one, pick it up with the stamping aids tab, ink it with a yellow ink pad and stamp it onto the white rectangle
Line the stars border stamp up below and stamp using yellow ink

  6. Use the purple ink pad and stripy border stamp to stamp another one below the stars
Put another stripy border below the stars

  7. Line the spotty border stamp at the bottom of your card and stamp it using the red ink pad. (I placed the Happy Birthday stamp on just to ensure I spaced the last border out but removed it before stamping the last border).
Stamp a row of spots as the last border at the bottom of the rectangle

  8. Now place the 'Happy Birthday' stamp between the stripy border and the last spotty border stamps and stamp it with the blue ink pad. This finishes off the stamping of your topper.
    Stamp the Happy Birthday greeting

  9. Cut a piece of blue card to 9 . 9 cm wide by 14 . 4 cm and glue it centrally to the white base card

  10. Glue the topper centrally ontop of the blue rectangle
Layer a rectangle of blue then the topper onto the base card

  11. Add 6 blue star gems around the Happy Birthday

I made a further one but swapped around some of the ink colours
