Make a card with hidden compartment to hide some money or a message
This cool little card is all made from one die and provides a little pull out tab that you can write a message on, or in my case, I folded a piece of paper money as a gift and hid it in this part.
The bonus of making your own cards, is you can use scraps of decorative papers, old wrapping paper and orientate it to the particular occaision. I've made this one into a birthday gift but it would be equally cool as a Christmas gift card.
Follow the below link to find out how the card was made
You will need
- The gift of Christmas die by Crafters Companion
- White, turquoise and blue card
- Turquoise patterned card (I used a sheet from a scrapbooking paper pack called Lovely Mystery by Craft Sensation)
- Happy Birthday die
- Glue and double sided tape
- Die cutting machine
- Use the dies to cut out all the parts as shown in the photo below
- Fold the white parcel base card along the score line so the shorter layer is towards the front
- Fold the white pocket along the 3 score lines and add thin double sided tape along the tabs
- Fold the tabs under the pocket and stick the pocket to the inside front of the card
- Glue the blue ribbon to the top of the turquoise patterned gift box shape
- Glue the blue rectangle just below the bow
- Cut a piece of blue card to about 6 x 7 cm and place it in the pocket
- Close the card. Put a thin strip of double sided tape along the top of the blue rectangle that is sitting in the inside pocket as shown in the below photo
- Stick the parcel top finished in step 6 to the strip of double sided tape added in step 8, making sure you align all the parts with the back of the card
- You can now pull out the parcel top revealing the blue rectangle. Add a rectangle of white card where you can write your secret message
- Die cut Happy Birthday from blue card and glue to the bottom of the parcel on the front of the card. If you do not have a die, then add a peel off or stamp your greeting
I was gifting the recipient some money for their birthday, so I folded down some paper money and hid it in the pocket.
